Inland Croatia

To welcome the New Year, we made an inland loop through a beautiful river valley actually running parallel to the Bosnia-Herzegovina border range. We made our way up to Kils and Prozor fortress ruins overlooking their valley lands and passed through the Krka National park gorge and waterfalls to come back to the Kaštela coast at sunset. It was a beautiful, peaceful day. The towns were asleep, the roads empty and the skies were clear.
Happy New Year 2021!

Our drive from the coastline of Split to Zagreb was about 5 hours of beautiful countryside dotted with the remains of farms and small villages. We started at sunrise and caught the sun fighting its way through the morning mists.

Zagreb

Zagreb is a sprawling city with a beautiful historic downtown. Trams and buses keep the city area flowing easily. The streets are a colorful mix of history and stylish modern life.

The Upper and Lower Old Town are connected by a funicular ride.

On the farm…

We’re staying with a Workaway host on a small farm in Novaki, about 40 miles outside of Zagreb, helping with the winter chores to get through January.

He said, “Wake up!”
